Is a photoshoot with your horse worth it?

So you're considering encapsulating the bond you have with your horse into beautiful memories that last a lifetime in the form of an equine photoshoot?

That’s so great and I'm so proud of you. You're not going to be one of those people saying that you wish you had done it while you could. Because, honestly? I hear it far too often.

Quite often someone books a photoshoot with their new horse because they missed the chance to do it with their previous beloved partner.

Are equine photoshoots scary?

I pride myself in making you feel looked after, happy and relaxed. That’s what creates the best portraits.

It’s simply having a lovely time with your horse and doing something a little different together.

Yes, you’ll leave with artwork and images that stand the test of time, photographs you’ll smile at daily.

Particularly on those days when it's freezing and raining sideways, when you glance at that frame and think “they really do love me.”

I know that feeling personally. I have my own horse portraits around my house and they make me feel exactly that, capturing that quiet look of love.

Thinking about a photoshoot with your horse? Here’s what it’s really like

One thing people often say to me after their equine photoshoot is:

"That was so much easier than I expected."

My shoots are very relaxed. People sometimes expect something formal or intimidating, but the reality is much simpler, it’s just time spent with your horse, enjoying the moment while I quietly create beautiful images.

Yes, you’ll end up with artwork and photographs that you’ll treasure for years, but most clients say the experience itself is just as special.

Before the shoot

Every shoot begins with a friendly chat. Once you’ve sent an enquiry (whether that’s through email, Instagram, WhatsApp or my website), we’ll arrange a time to talk properly.

I love this part because I get to hear all about your horse, their personality, your story together, and what makes them special to you.

We’ll talk through ideas for the shoot and get excited about what we’re going to create together.

On the day

Shoot days are always relaxed. We’ll have a wander around your yard, find the best spots, and simply enjoy some time with your horse while I guide you through everything.

You don’t need modelling experience and your horse certainly doesn’t need to be perfect. Some of the most beautiful images happen in the quiet in-between moments.

After the shoot

Once your photo's are ready, you’ll come to my studio to see them for the first time.

This is one of my favourite parts, watching people see their images and remembering those moments with their horse.

From there you can choose how you’d like to enjoy them, whether that’s beautiful wall art for your home, digital images, or something special to keep forever.

And then…

You leave with something that captures the bond you share with your horse, something that will make you smile every time you see it.

And that, to me, is the whole point.

How far do you travel for horse photoshoots?

Another thing I hear a lot is:

"Oh, you're probably too far away from me."

But I absolutely love travelling.

I’m based in Shropshire, just outside Shrewsbury near the Wales border, but I regularly travel across the UK for equine photoshoots.

My Luxe portrait experience includes a generous travel allowance, which often means there’s little or no extra travel cost.

I love road trips up and down the country, and I’m not opposed to planes or boats either.
